# Health Connect

> Let steps, sleep, resting heart rate and more fill themselves in.

VitaSync reads six types of data from Health Connect: steps, sleep, resting heart rate, calories burned, weight and hydration. Each one is a separate permission. Anything Samsung Health or another app writes to Health Connect can be read the same way.

## Connect it

<Steps>
  <Step title="Open Integrations">
    Open the menu, then Integrations.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Tap Connect Health Connect">
    Android opens the Health Connect permission screen.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Grant the types you want">
    Grant any of the six without the others. You can change this later in Health Connect.
  </Step>
</Steps>

Health Connect is built into Android 14 and later. On older versions, install it from Google Play.

## Samsung Health

Samsung Health shares with Health Connect once you allow it. In Samsung Health, open Settings, then Health Connect, and turn on sharing for the data you want. VitaSync then reads it like any other Health Connect data.

## What you will see

An imported value shows a small source badge and is read-only. Edit it and it becomes yours. Later imports do not replace a value you edited. See [Where a value comes from](/how-it-works/sources).

## Refreshing

VitaSync refreshes Health Connect data when you open the app, and in the background.

## Disconnecting

Open Integrations and disconnect. VitaSync removes the values Health Connect supplied and keeps the ones you typed. You can also withdraw the permissions in Health Connect or in your phone's settings.

## Not on Android?

Apple Health is not part of the Android beta. An iPhone version is planned.
